.missed opportunities

Ever buy tickets for a concert and then discover you can't go or you are sick? I thought I'd revisit some that I've missed in the past and most recently. Some of them pain me, others are just a shoulder shrug and can be brushed off.

01. Liz Phair @ the Electric Factory (ughhhhh pains me and still mad over all these years later)

This was when Whitechocolatespaceegg came out. I saw her open TWICE for other events when it was finally her event. My friend Jon was supposed to accompany me that evening. He stupidly ate a large lunch at Red Lobster (I'd never eat there before a show) and felt sick. I had to eat both tickets and was sooooo bummed out. I'm not sure he even paid me back or why I just didn't go solo. Again I was a scared 17-year-old that didn't want to drive to Philly by herself.

02. Supergrass Za tour 2008 (ugh pains me)
These tickets were only $12 and it was the last time I think Supergrass performed in Philly before I stopped listening to them or they broke up. We had a BLIZZARD the day of the show. They did not cancel the show. About 12 people showed up I heard through Myspace. Still!

03. Screaming Females 2016 (shoulder shrug)
I should've just listened to my gut and not bought these tickets. I'm kind of glad I did not go and it was 6 or 9 degrees outside that day. Northern NJ is a hike for me and I was scared the battery would die in my car. The train would suffice but I'd probably have to get a hotel that evening, etc. So for $12 going through all of that wasn't worth it. But alas! I saw them two months later at a Planned Parenthood benefit so the universe was on my side.

04. Yeasayer 2016 (shoulder shrug)
This seemed like a great idea a while back to attend this. My friend Liz was going with her group of friends. I forget what other shows I went to earlier that week but I was just exhausted. Exhausted to the point where my body could not stand the entire show and was it worth it to sit all the way up top on the bleachers of the Union Transfer? I stayed home. Part of me was pissed for blowing $30 on this when a) their new album wasn't that great in my opinion b) from the Instagram feed they didn't sound that stellar live

05. Potty Mouth / Dyke Drama / Beach Slang 2016 (shoulder shrug)
Because of what I decided to eat the night before was a poor choice, I did not make this concert. Really I was just going for Potty Mouth. A lot of people don't like the new Beach Slang. I'm not hell bent on this one because tickets weren't that much money but I learned not to go just for the opener anymore.

06. Pouty / Allison Crutchfield / Adult Mom (so sad about this!)
So last night I did attend this but left after Pouty's set since I didn't feel well. I was SO PISSED because Adult Mom is really great and I wanted to see Allison as well. The tickets were only $10 but still, I am mad about it.

What concerts did you end up bypassing or were not able to attend?
